A) Where do we serveDutchess County coalition for the Homeless operates a homeless shelter at Hillcrest Center (845-452-5197) with a capacity of 46 beds. Currently, the center serves around 30 people daily.
B) Driving drection1. Take Rt. 9 heading north
2. Around marist College, turn right to Fulton Street, stay on Fulton St
3. Turn left at Rt. 9G/Violet Ave., stay in the Ave. for 0.6 mile
4. Turn right at Cottage Rd., go for 0.3 mile
5. Turn left at Cheney Drive, go for 0.1 mile
6. Turn left at Snow Terrace.
C) To provide the service, the flow of activity is straightforward:1. Buy/make sandwiches beforhand
2. On the night of service, take sandwiches to shelter at around 8:30 PM. Sign in
3. Wait for guests to arrive, which should happen at around 9:00 PM
4. As soon as guests start walking into dining area (which is basically a hallway), we can distribute sandwiches to them
5. After all guests get their dinner, we can sign out and leave. This could happen as early as 9:30 PM. We don't have to wait until they finish. Cleaning up will be done by staff of the shelter.
